Letter sent with Connor  / Amy Maddocks (Mother)

The letter I sent with my sweet Connor the day we buried him:

My Dearest Connor,
As I lay you to rest this day, my thoughts and feelings are as a whirlwind of emotions.  There isn't time enough to truly express my feelings.  Your conception was an absolute miracle.  I had always wanted another child, and to find out you were a boy was true bliss!  I was so worried I wouldn't be a good enough mommy for you.  You deserved only the very best, and I was determined to give that to you.  You were the fulfilment of so many of my hopes and dreams!  I tried hard to take care of you while you were in my body.  I will always feel like I falied you in this way.  I am so sorry I could not sustain  your life just a little longer inside me.  The utter desolation I feel now that you are gone almost seems more than I can bear.  I feel a gaping abyss in my heart and soul that I fear will never go away.  I can only hope and pray that in time this wound will heal and I will understand why the Lord chose to take you from me.  My only consolation is knowing that you will be in the Celestial Kingdom with Christ.  This is the only thing that keeps me going.  You are a true miracle and have done so much for this family.  Your daddy and I are so proud of you and your valiant effort to stay alive in this world.  I will wait un-patiently for the day when I can hold you in my arms again.  Be strong and know that your mommy and daddy love you immensly and will always keep you in our hearts.

Goodbye for now my son, I love you, Love, Mommy

So sorry  / Jessica Keith (None)

I know we dont know one another but I would like to send my prayers your way because I know how difficult it is to lose a child the prayers help so much! I know even though the pain we as angel parents experience is so hard I also find that the knowledge of knowing our angels are happy in God's hands smiling down on us makes things seem a bit more comforting. I know your angel is watching over you and your family as mine angel is us. Congrats on the publishing of your book also.

I dont think you know who i am...i just experienced the loss of my son.  I had to do the same thing you did and not a day goes by that i ask why.  I know that no words can heal what you went through...but i am so sorry for your loss.  And i understand what you went through.  It something no one should have to do.  Mine is still pretty fresh not even 6 months ago.  I wish you the best and pray that you and your family can find peace in the pain you had to suffer.  Close

How lucky i was to know Amy Maddocks!!
When I was in the 6th grade Amy was pregnant with Connor, and also had him when i was in her class.  I felt after she returned from having Connor me and the rest of the students had a special relationship with her.  Amy told us how beautiful Connor was and how much she missed him!  Amy taught me a lot about life lessons and how much of a blessing it is to be a mother.  I am now only in the eighth grade but what Amy has taught me about being a mom her words will inspire me to be the best mom I can be!!! Amy i thank you so very much for being the best teacher I have ever had!! And for you and your daughters strong spirits!! i love you Amy and thank you again!!
         With Great Love,

Dear Amy, Charles, and Lys,
We wanted to send our thanks for your gift in memory of little Connor today.  With it we send our love and prayers.  You have touched our hearts and are grateful for the opportunity to reach others through you.  We want you to know that your gifts were very much appreciated. One went to a mother who's little one is currently in the NICU and the other to a little one who was born just as you came in and now shares the same birthday as your little Connor.  We wish you and your family comfort and happiness in knowing that Connor has a very special mission to fulfill, that your family will be blessed as you reach out to bless the lives of others, and that you will be together again!!

Sincerely,

Logan Regional NICU Close

The Brave Little Soul
By: John Alessi

Not too long ago in Heaven there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however the little soul was sad, for on this day he saw suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, "Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?" God paused for a moment and replied, "Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people's hearts." The little soul was confused. "What do you mean," he asked. God replied, "Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone." The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, "The suffering soul unlocks the love in people's hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer - to unlock this love - to create this miracle for the good of all humanity."

Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied. "I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people's hearts! I want to create that miracle!" God smiled and said, "You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you". God and the brave soul shared a smile, and then embraced.

In parting, God said, "Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed." Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God's strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people's hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys, some regained lost faith - many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased.
